Beginnings of a great day!
This is my blog. I do as I wish! Sometimes I will indulge in myself... just today, okay. Please...
I'm 19!! Yahoooo!!!
Currently I am suffering from self induced 'jet lag'. A term Izhar coined this afternoon. We have been doing our Working Drawings assignment without rest for days to meet the deadline, and now most of us have our biological clock set at 'sleepy only after 4 a.m.'
Back to me.. Its already one of the greatest birthdays in the making! It seems like it began a week ago. My friends, Michael and Alice from Jakarta gave me a surprise visit. I had a brief holiday in KL for 2 days, spent a night at Federal Hotel. The next day, I went out for a site study at Tung Shin Hospital and later met See Ming at Maju Junction for lunch. We exchanged birthday wishes in advance and I GOT MY FIRST PRESENT! A KALAM book on Malaccan Architecture. Thank you thank you thank you!
The KALAM book and the Birthday Card
Next, I came home today to find a curious yellow envelope in the mail addressed to 'David Teoh'. 'Wah.. who from?'... *flip* 'Lu Zhi Yang'. WOW! My first posted birthday card in a long time, man! What more, from a foreign country! Thanks mon ami from S'pore for the card. I truly appreciate the message on it as well.
Then, I turned on the computer and I got an E-card from Paul Washington. Snoopy was really cute, Paul... I'll mail you some cake, but then I doubt you will eat it when it arrives in Chicago. =P Thank you Paul!
My thanks also to the many well wishers, Sze Jian (Sydney), David Lim, Aunt Julie, Saravanan, Izhar, Aaron, Jacques (Japan), and an sms from Michelle at 12.00 AM. Thanks a gazillion everyone! (As of 1.01 AM while chatting on ICQ, Will realised it was my birthday.. after I finished this entry... aiyah, just put in the list hor.. =P) Also, Haruki just emailed. Haven't heard from you in a while mon frere! Another good birthday surprise...!
Reflecting on my past few birthdays
18th - Supposed to be significant? Well its supposed to be the partial freedom checkpoint. I can now enter night spots. =) But it certainly was pretty much like any other day. I was on the bus to Penang.... Oh... I just realised, I returned to where I was born on my 18th birthday! What a mysterious arrangement! Francis Tan took me around that night. My sincerest thanks for that. No cake, but then my classmates tried to pull my pants off in the pool... But then "HAHA I swim! You guys can't!"
17th - Late for tuition class, and Kanesh and Vishnu picked me up from my home and took me to MacDonalds.... BIG MAC LARGE Set.. wah so full have to eat summore.... and then in tuition they started singing as I came in... like "Hail to the chief". =P
16th - I remember getting a lot of presents/cards even at the restaurant where I had my dinner. My mom went "its my son's birthday" and I got free cake during dinner + 2 mugs and a 10% discount. So I recommend Chakri Palace for your next birthday. In the afternoon my friends booked this Mamak restaurant and then belanja-ed me lunch. Then they bought this cheap cake to cream the bejezezz outa me... smelt like egg after the shower... sigh! But FUN!
Ok... stopping at 16. Memory failing me... must be because I'm 19 already.
To all my friends. My sincerest gratitude. God bless all of you. You all be in my prayers! =D
