No time? Where does it all go to?
Happy new year once again.
Recently I was exposed to some interesting observations by a trainer. People often say that they are too busy and have no time. Well, thats really not the case. Actually students especially idle a lot of time away. When a few people were asked how much time they use to do certain things, an average time as listed below was recorded.
How much time does a student spend per day doing the following?
Sleep, eat, use the computer, watch television, idle around, stuck in traffic/idling on public transport.
Sleep - 7 Hours/day
Eat - 1 1/2 Hours/day
Computer - 1 to 3 Hours/day
Television - 1 to 2 Hours/day
Idle around - 6 Hours/day
Stuck in traffic - 1 to 2 hours/day
Well this is the general assumption... especially for students in their teens perhaps. If we use these numbers and assume one would live to the age of 70, we could end up utilising
20 years sleeping
4 1/2 years eating
15 years in front of a screen
18 years idling around
6 years stuck in traffic
and guess how many years we spend developing ourselves?
0.2 years
and how much effective time we use to do something productive? The most efficient person utilises 12 years.. of course such a person hasn't the time to spend in front of a screen, nor idle away, or even sleep for long hours.
So I personally would like to use 2004 to the fullest and work on my shortcomings as well as achieve my goals. =)
