Let's applaud NST for embarassing themselves

The next time the NST group checks its readership numbers, they shouldn't make a hue and cry over their declining readership and blaming it on biased statisticians. Perhaps they should blame it on the wise citizens of Malaysia who have the mental capacity to discern which newspaper to spend their money on. All NST publications are gradually turning themselves into mulch.

Weren't there more worthy stories to run on the first article on the front page of Berita Harian on October 2? I guess they thought not, because they chose to run this ridiculous story about one line made by an anonymous commentor on Jeff Ooi's blog criticizing an UMNO concept.

As I see it,

1) it was one comment which was insulting to UMNO
2) the commenter used a pseudonym, in this case of an opposition leader who is anti-UMNO
3) It could have been a mole planted by the parties offended (perhaps UMNO or NST) to either discredit Anwar or discredit Jeff Ooi.
4) Jeff Ooi did not delete it, but posted a strongly worded statement which was opposed to it. Subsequently the offending commenter was banned.
5) I do not know why the insulting comment was left on, but perhaps it was to remind people there are idiots living among us. Perhaps it was a reminder to wannabe idiots that such comments are not to be tolerated on Jeff's blog and will be treated with the same disdain.
6) Many commentors subsequently criticised the person who posted the offending comment.

Now, under what grounds should Jeff Ooi apologise? And to whom should he apologize?

How did this get blown out of proportion?

I think we Malaysians are mature enough to discern between what is nonsense and what is not. When the NST group decides to feed these lowlifes with such attention, it only goes to show how small minded journalism in the NST group is.

This blogger does not see why Jeff Ooi should apologise.
